Seeing a lot of people complain about Google being not as great as people make it seem, lack of growth, company being cheap, lack of perks outside of HQ. And with Meta the role is just uninteresting. My friends story from glassdoor:
"I was laid off because Jabian threatened a lawsuit against my (now former) employer because they claimed that I breached my employment agreement by joining a competing business. At Jabian I was in an entry level, non client facing, internal role, with no managerial responsibilities. Iwish had thought twice before signing their extremely restrictive employment agreement. Also, Jabian pays below market average. Join a firm that focuses their resources on creating rewarding employment experiences rather than spending their money on outside counsel that will come after you if you leave for a better career opportunity. The hypocrisy is that the 3 partners, extended leadership team and consultants come from competing consulting frms - Jabian won't hire consultants unless they have 3 years of experience from another competing consulting firm. I am simply telling my story, I hope you have a better experience than did."

Directors with variable pay are doing just fine
You might want to seek legal counsel. In many states the non-compete wouldn’t be enforceable. Particularly as a jr. level employee you might have some protection if their threat caused you to lose your job. Just because you signed it doesn’t make it legal or enforceable.
I see it now. That really stinks. I hope your friend is able to find a new position quickly.
Oh wow, thanks for sharing! Had a competing offer from Jabian that matched my EY so was actually pleased with the comp and culture but ended up not wanting to be trapped in a local model. Was your experience with Atlanta or Chicago?

Why didn’t you read your non compete agreement?
well the non-compete agreement is intended for someone in position of sales or external client facing etc. here is statue if you want to read.

this was an internal role, entry level position and non client facing. My friend got multiple opionins from attorneys that it is non enforceble. however, gave up because even for getting declaratory judgement from court it was expensive and my friend couldnt afford. Unfortunately, Jabian uses this mechanism to limit worker mobility, attrition and fair competition. Jabian decided to pursue this employee because otherwise thier local model will collapse and everybody within the firm will start switching for better pay.
This post is clearly from a disgruntled employee. Seek to understand all the opinions of people that currently work for Jabian and that previously worked for Jabian - if you are considering a job move.
