New to Fishbowl?
unlock all discussions on Fishbowl.

Google is fantastic. All the complaints are people nitpicking. Everyone I know who works there is very satisfied and you can always exit if you’re unhappy after a few years.
It seems you are early in your career hence I think all these are great options for you to try out. A few things I’d point out -
1. Fishbowl is full of consultants who don’t like their job as a consultant hence they tend to over glorify industry exits particularly jobs from FAANG even without knowing the job scope.
2. Google and Meta are 100% great companies. But it eventually comes down to what you want to achieve. I saw a lot consultants post their FAANG offers but rarely acknowledge those roles they get are typically some support roles like S&O, program managers, etc. Think through if the role meets your career aspirations.
3. A job is a job. And there is no perfect job just like there is no perfect spouse. You need to decide what you prioritize. Not trying to convincing you to stay at D or exit to G/M.
PS I turned down a S&O offer from FAANG.
I have known a couple of cyber folks switch to PM
Get google on the resume, can always boomerang back to Deloitte

This can’t possibly be a real question
Google > Deloitte > Meta
My lord just leave
Rising Star
Weird flex. I’m at Google. I don’t know if it’s “great” but I like it here.
See you soon.
Rising Star
I meant to convey that I (and many others) are not in the habit of calling their companies “great”. Liking it at work is more than enough. It’s just a job.
You should definitely assess your options. Those options are Google and Meta (assuming the roles are suited to your background). See you soon!
Edit: Weird flex because there wasn’t a ton of info about the role profiles and TC. It appeared like a post that exists for the sake of it without any info that we can use to help you decide.
This has to be satire. You can’t go wrong with either Google or Meta.
I’ve worked at both. G will give you better WLB and M will give you growth.
Can +1 to this as someone who has also worked at both.
Other point; Meta will move you career up faster, Google will take longer but WLB is unbeatable

Google. Facebook is where careers go to get poisoned by a toxic brand
Rising Star
Meta is a very respected brand among the recruiters I have interacted with. One’s own ethical stand may preclude them from joining the firm, but the “brand” isn’t remotely toxic yet.
How about a comp package comparison?

SA1 no need to bring your insecurities here
How tf did you get offers like that 😂 how many YOE at D you got?
Bro I just say leave. The whole purpose of big 4 is to trampoline into something better
one of the best things about working at a place like Deloitte is knowing you can always go back if you need to! I say go to google and if you hate it you can always go back
Looks like a no brainer. I love my team and enjoy the work I’m doing but if I got an offer from FAANG, I would turn in my 2 weeks right away.
I currently have two boomerangs from google. They hated the culture.
D7 - May I ask whether they are from GCP or Google Ads? From my research it seems GCP has completely different culture and work settings.
Two things important to succeeding: a.) make sure you enjoy the work you do and b.) make sure you like and get along with the people you work with
I joined Google and love it. This company actually respects work life balance
How’d you get interviews at Google? I tried applying but heard there’s very little chance unless you have a referral
Pure luck and prayer.
OP: G-daddy all day err day.
Aren’t most tech companies on a hiring freeze? Also keep in mind, if the recession comes in FILO
Pandemic tech is in layoff / hiring freeze mode. The others aren’t. Ones that didn’t over spend with the inflation are fine. Hiring will likely slow next year for them but they’ll still hire a lot of roles most people on here are looking for. Strategy, ops, product, etc
