Unless you work in a field where people’s lives are on the line, there’s no reason to check in after hours. You’re not getting paid to work after your official working hours and whatever updates you make or work you do won’t really be seen until people log on. Go to sleep.
I get this, and it reminds me of that meme that's like, "Why work 9-5, when you can work 24/7?" I think it's natural to want to check, but setting those boundaries with yourself early on will save your sanity in the long run. I really never stop working, but I do set times when I have no screens (phone included).
I think this is a workflow question.
Are things waiting on for your input?
Do they need a response from you in order to meet a deadline? Will a delayed response cause the missed deadline?
Work never ends, so there will always be more to do tomorrow.
As long as you’re not bottle necking something, it’s probably fine to disconnect.
If you are, then I hope you’re being paid well enough for your time lol. When I was a VP i made a lot of money because I was working all the time.

I work when it makes sense. If you feel like you’re losing sleep then you may need more boundaries. For me, I’m likely going to lose that sleep either way - doing the work or tossing and turning thinking about the work. I try to not respond to clients at 4am when I’m randomly awake checking messages but otherwise I work when I want to work. Sometimes that’s during the day and sometimes I nap in the afternoon with my toddler and then stay up a little later working.
If my juniors work after 5 they better have an excuse or appology ready
