You are going to let legislation determine if you want to start a family?
This.
I’m sorry but this shows me you’re possibly too deep into social media. Honestly I’d consider reframing your world view if these items are playing a part in your decision to build a family. Absolutely wild imo

Welcome to Texas! But I’m curious - given your concerns, why did you guys move here?
Also consider the reproductive freedom here in Texas. They are severely cutting back on these rights. For someone starting a family this would be a huge concern regarding whether your wife would be comfortable carrying in a state that is known for denying health care to pregnant women & a high maternal mortality rate. We are also seeing a decline in OBGYN’s because I’d these restrictions and this trend will continue since they do not feel safe to practice their job. Women’s health will become less accessible over the next few years. The other topics you mention are the cherry on top imo
You do need to pick your doctor carefully and understand their approach if something goes wrong with the pregnancy. Women have died in Texas because their doctors are concerned about intervening given Texas’ abortion laws. https://www.texastribune.org/2024/11/27/texas-abortion-death-porsha-ngumezi/
Saying it’s “legislation” is disingenuous. It’s not passed, it still needs to go through the house and will most likely be challenged in courts.
Ten Commandments - I’m Catholic and it feels a little weird.
On prayer time - it would be up to the district to allow prayer time. Should Muslim students be allowed prayer time for ones that overlap with school time? If yes, can Christian or other religious students be allowed the same amount of prayer time?
If you’re trying to be Catholic instead of nondenominational, I highly suggest St. Ann’s in Coppell. 👍
As far as the display of Ten Commandments, who cares? There’s a mall in Lewisville with a display of the Ten Commandments and some people complain, other people realize they don’t have to read them if they don’t want.
1. School vouchers have been talked about for years - doubt it will happen but to be seen. If so, you can send your kids to private school with the voucher or if you live in a nice area which your job suggests probably doesn’t much matter.
2. Prayer time / ten commandments. If imposed will be a moment of silence and not specific to a particular religion so much to do about nothing other than scoring political points - same with 10 commandments. Already rules just displayed in a more prominent and political way.
