Recently I had two rounds of interview with KPMG for a content lead role.

The HR, on call, confirmed that I'd cleared the second round and would schedule an on-shore round when the team was available.

Couple of days later, the HR informs me that the position in on hold and they'll call me if something else comes up.

This felt so wrong. Can't figure out if they hired someone prior and were just messing with me? Can I do something here?

I am still on the process of getting my work permit and I am very clear about this during the interviews, but I suspect that this is the reason why I am not getting any call back. I recently joined Swiss Re at 30lpa, pretty good manager and work culture. Got a hike of 10% in 3 months without me asking for it.
