Recently joined the community and start to explore my next opportunity. I’ve noticed that many fully remote legal roles seem to offer lower compensation ranges compared to similar hybrid or in-office positions, even at the senior level. I am wondering is there generally a “pay discount” attached to fully remote roles now? Is it a trend that candidates increasingly willing to trade compensation for flexibility?

Absolutely yes. I am one of those people that will happily take less to stay remote, because I still come out ahead

Senior attorneys nearing retirement also tend to accept remote roles at a salary reduction as an alternative to retirement. Doesn’t make much sense to me as the job is still demanding despite being remote. 🤷‍♀️ My current boss went from general counsel to remote senior counsel-he’s almost 70 and has already had to take two extended leaves due to medical issues.

What? Obviously yes.

Sure

I’m facing a similar choice right now — staying remote vs getting a 20% increase in pay at a new job but needing to go in office 3 to 4 times a week.

I don’t think so… I asked this question in a separate poll and the consensus seemed to be staying at the current role. Not sure how to post links but the poll is in the in house counsel bowl.

100% yes

Hey Guys,

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. That said getting to know people only remote has been kind of awkward at times (email only can be tough to decipher) although as a working mom the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Yesterday my main partner asked me to come in Thursday bc he will be there and set a time to meet. Is this good/bad?? kind of nervous!

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?

Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. Now that I have, are there any sites besides “jobscan” that I can use to make sure my resume fits the job descriptions? Does anybody know any recruiters that could help me, as well?
