Republic's owner, Lisa, has a storied past of calling her sales team and talking about other sales staff behind there back. It really escalated in the last 2 years, calling employees "brats" & "bad spirits". When caught, she called the team mates she talked about and said this was just a "weakness" of hers. Refuses to classify her employees has W-2, but breaks every definition of a 1099 status. Ethical concerns are an issue as she is hiding/withholding credits that clients have on file.

Sounds like toxic leadership! When a founder’s "personal weakness" becomes a company culture, it stops being a flaw and becomes a system of harm.. If she controls schedules, work methods, or outcomes, those “1099s” are likely misclassified W-2s, and that could trigger IRS or Department of Labor action. Definitely document everything if you're still there and if you're not, consider reporting it to protect future workers. Thanks for sharing on here!

That is really sad to hear and I am so sorry that you had to deal with that. Definitely sounds like there were a lot of red flags at that place and you are much better off finding something new. There are lots of other places to work that will treat you much better.

I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?
