I’ve been saying this for years. They don’t want to lay employees off and pay them a severance. It’s cheaper for employees to quit. This happened at my last company and they had too many people leave to where they were understaffed.
The problem with Publicis’ rash decision is their employees were already burnt out with many underpaid. Employees don’t forget and will leave without giving 2 weeks notice. This exact same thing happened to the automotive OEMs a few years back.
An ongoing pendulum really.
I think many people accepted no promotions or raises as a result of economic forecast, with the work efficiencies gained from WFH as the company benefit, and the cost savings as the employee benefit. The entire equation is out of whack now
That's certainly how it feels like, and they aren't even subtle about it.
