I'm sorry that happened to you! It's abhorrent. The law of sowing and reaping will catch them up!
"No Sir.Ma'am.
I don't work for free. If you want me to work for you then you need to hire me plain and simple."
That's the only appropriate response.
She said to then call her and she'd help setup next interview with her and her boss. I wasted no time and went out to visit with the salesperson the same day, but she told me that I was supposed to have a few questions for her and to have visited at least 1 or 2 of their other communities in the region, just touring the models, not meeting with the other sales staff, and then making hers my last stop. I was not aware of those things at all. The Director of Sales didn't tell me those details. The sales consultant was very friendly and chatted with me a few minutes, as nobody else was there, and she said it had been really slow that day. I got her business card and let her
know that I'd confirm with her before returning to make sure she wasn't busy with customers.
I returned home, sent a follow-up/thank you email to the Director of Sales that I had interviewed with earlier. I thanked her for her time and useful insight and briefly explained that I had driven out to the community and salesperson that she asked me, but needed to return more prepared in a few days, and that I'd be back in touch once I did that. This was Friday of last week. They said not to go on the weekends when they are busy, and then that specific sales consultant that she wanted me to meet with is off on Mon & Tues, making this last Weds (3 days ago) the first opportunity to visit with her again. So, I prepare my list of questions, drive around a couple other Pulte communities, and viewed the models, as I was told to do. I sent a text message to the Sales Consultant, on Weds morning, asking if it was okay to stop by again, and letting her know that I was prepared to meet with her. No response, except for a 'read receipt'. She works in sales and Pulte wants their sales team responding to customers and prospects within a couple of hours, or less. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, I wait until it's after 10am, when her model home opens each day, and I tried calling her instead of texting. No answer. No return call. I've checked my email and also no response from the Director of Sales either, not that one was necessary. But, I never heard back from either, and my suspicion was confirmed with an automated rejection email sent to me Thursday. No explanation. You aren't obligated to hire me, Maybe I'm a good fit for the job and maybe I'm not. I applied for the job because I admired your company and based on the past experiences I've had working with PulteGroup. I did research and studied your company before the interview. I wore a nice suit that I picked up from the cleaners for our interview. I carefully put together my resume, outlining skills and experiences that fit the needs of the position. I drove around to several of your communities, toured your model homes, and spoke to your sales team, which was all upon your request. I followed up with you after our meetings and to try and complete the task that you asked me to do. I did these things with my time, my money and resources, and while navigating the really challenging and often unpleasant realities of highly competitive job market, frequently void of integrity, and filled with scams, morally bankrupt organizations, and illusions of positions with grand salaries and benefits that simply don't exist. You don't owe me a job, but you owe me respect--respect for my preparedness, respect for the 15+ years of housing and real estate experience that I have, respect for the business and customers that I've driven to your company, helping sell your homes. The PulteGroup claims to be a leader in its industry, and in most of the communities where they build. Leaders don't lead people on, waste other people's time, ignore calls or messages, and send other professionals on a useless scavenger hunt
