Yeah im sire recent hires are being paid more than me and I've been at company for 8 years...thats problem with being loyal you just get minimal 2-4% raise each year which usually means youre lagging market pay if you left and took comparable role elsewhere. At least you know. So either bring it up and ask to be paid same/more or if they dont, then stick it out or start looking for another job
This is normal as companies adjust salary bands periodically. Be happy for your friend and I personally wouldn’t raise it given the amount is not too much. It seems more appropriate to raise during performance reviews, and if you are unhappy about the pay, I’d look elsewhere.
