The strategy is “British Airways lets you see the world”.
It’s not a revolutionary strategy but it’s an excellent proposition executed beautifully. This is A+ advertising.
Wow. Both times. Laughing out loud as you typed.
Seeing a city from your plane window is awesome.
Sure, any airline could say this but most airlines are exactly the same anyway.
The billboard of the kid pointing at the planes wasn’t really saying anything either but it was cool
This taps into an insight as well. That feeling you have when you see your destination while looking out of the window. It’s very relatable and obvious.
It’s ok you don’t like the ad btw, OP. I’m not a huge fan either. You’re just being very dramatic about it. It’s amusing how some people take advertising way too seriously.
Some of you are really showing that you don’t have any media or visual literacy if you don’t get this…
All I can tell from these comments is that not a single person knows wtf these ads are on about. And a logo-crop is NOT an idea. If this was from MullenLowe everyone would think it was nonsense.
Plenty of people have told you it’s just simple product porn reminding you of the joy of travel.
You are trying to find a deeper meaning that isn’t there.
That colonialism is backwards
If I had to guess the strategy behind this and the other British Airways OOH that’s gone LinkedIn viral in recent years, it would be that while everyone loves vacation, we also kinda hate flying.
The work seems like it’s all focused not in the joy of the destination but in feeling like the flight itself is enjoyable, the joy of looking out the window etc. Can you do that on any airline? Sure. But if the brand makes “flying our airline should be pleasurable” a cohesive goal, not just in advertising but consumer experience, I’d be okay with that.
Maybe I’m being overly charitable to them? I’m an American and have never flown BA so what do I know 🤷♂️
Doesn’t seem like you’re going to like this ad and no one here is going to convince you otherwise. So why shit on how others feel when they see this ad?
I assume they capture that joy of seeing your destination when you look out of the window before you start landing. It’s a pretty recognizable feeling. Not every ad has to be full of rational rtb’s. It’s decent work.
Nah bro
everyone on here be like great strategy BUT I AINT SEEIN IT! don’t need strategy printed on the ads my friends. This is a masterclass in simple. No CTA, no URL, no RTB - just the fact that the visual creates envy for those who want to see the world. That’s it. That’s the ad. Back to TikTok now.
Cool, but if that’s the case why does London look like a muddy dystopian hellscape. If you’re going to create envy at least make it look enticing. Remember those days? Guess it’s not cool anymore, whatevs, back to TikTok.
isn’t it lovely that the strategy isn’t showing
i’ll take nice simple creative any day
you’re both bloody right 🥲
I think these ads are staying that you can ride in an airplane on British Airways.
Are you trying to say that simply putting a logo in a photograph isn’t an idea? We’ve seen it so many times this past year and every single one is a banger!
Sarcasm.
I think they are meant to get people to stop and figure it out - what city? What airline?
That’s all I’ve got 🤷🏾♀️
That's clearly London. If you need to advertise that BRITISH airways now fly to/from LONDON, we are cooked.
This campaign has been made purely for industry awards. Unfortunately juries will lap it up, but the public won’t care or even notice it.
Strategy Director 2 - how do you know the plane isn’t taking off?
Ideas are 2025, execution is 2026 baby.
Not you sorry. OP replied to you suggesting that the creators of the ad should be physically harmed. OP has since deleted or had the post removed so it looks like I replied directly to you.
Was this the last straw for Uncommon UK before getting rid of the CCO who was barely there for a year but been rolling out junk after junk for them.
These ads are saying “yo, out of touch advertising jury, get me some gold statues when my company pays for my flight to Cannes/New York please and thank you.”
I think it’s saying “Sorry, this one’s going to Gatwick”
they hid the logo in plane site
It’s not really hiding the logo though?
Also not sure why this would be any different than flying continental or some other airline. Feels a bit generic.
It’s from a TikTok video- it’s the view of an unstable passenger who won’t get out of his seat despite the authorities request.
