Agree with ECD1. This isn’t a key vs alt market problem - it’s an industry wide reduction in jobs after rounds, and rounds, and rounds of layoffs at holdco shops and their clients.
Our entire GDP is a Russian doll set of speculative and circular AI investments.

Seems like the pie hasn’t changed. The small markets are still small, the big ones are still big. Problem is the hiring for creatives at large has shrunk.
When was Boston a thing?
Worked at Mullen Boston from 2010 through 2014 and we were winning a bunch of new business. It was fun then but there weren’t as many other options in town as being in NYC or LA.
I’m currently living in LA and have been wondering the same thing. Are all the jobs in NYC? I lived there for years, but don’t want to move back. Do people even still move for jobs when employers constantly do layoffs?

If you aren’t in New York, LA, and Chicago and maybe Atlanta it is going to be a tremendous challenge over the next year. It sucks.
Chicago has gotten a lot smaller.
The IPG-Omnicom merger cut the number of agencies, but most of the big holding company agencies here had already been on a steady decline.
Highdive has gotten bigger at least, and Quality Meats is emerging, but they don’t really hire anyone.
I know I’m freaking out, too. I didn’t want to leave but had to. Even freelance doesn’t seem to be remote anymore. I thought more remote would open up and now there is none! I agree with it feeling like nyc is the only ad job market. It’s so messed up to do this to people when rent/condos are absurd.

freelance is still very much remote
Yeah, I really thought remote work was going to stick around...I guess it's time to pivot to a new career, since I'm not moving back.

It should have since agencies need to squeeze every bit of margin out of revenues that are dropping by high %s
LA is very very tough especially for media agencies folks, the opportunities are limited.
