Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

A little about my background- I have bachelors and masters in accounting. I did a internship at a midsize public accounting firm, worked 2 years in corporate accounting and 2 years in SEC Reporting so far.
I know that if I suck it up and pursue CPA, I will earn respect and future job prospects but am I gonna love it….idk. My hair started falling (got alopecia smh fml) just from the stress of studying FAR for 3 months and I haven’t passed any of the parts yet. On the other hand, if I switch to FP&A there will be steep learning curve for the first couple of months but I will diversify my skill set. I will deal with budget and work closely with the CFO. What do you suggest I should do? Have you been through similar experience before and what did you do? Is there more money and exit opportunities in Finance?
Nobody loves studying for the cpa exams. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to quit. Then I come around to thinking, if this is my chosen career, I don’t want to settle for not having the most important license in the profession. I’ve been studying for almost 2 years and still got one more left to pass. You’re gonna need to dig deep and find that inner motivation to put yourself through long nights after work studying. It’s a b****. But it can be done.
