Should I move to another firm and take the higher pay (20% more) and do more work I’d enjoy doing and have better growth and long term career potential, while sacrificing my current title (would have to step down from associate to analyst), WLB, and team chemistry?

The point of a title is typically more money. How fast would the new place promote you back to associate? In future job searches, you might be asked why you dropped to analyst so you’ll have to be able to explain besides, “I took the job for more money.” If you think you in a dead end job right now, it could be worth it. I took a title demotion when I moved from a regional boutique with a director title to Merrill Lynch for a VP title. More money and better career growth and it’s brought me to where I am now. To me, money was more important than the title.

Hello! I’m gearing up for my year end comp conversation and I’d like to be a better idea of what people are making to ask for a raise. I work for a large asset manager and sell alternative investments (PE, RE, Credit, Infra etc) to RIAs, family offices, and multi family offices. I’m currently an associate, but am hoping to get VP this cycle. Any insight on what your comp looks like and how it’s structured would be super helpful!
