Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

This is often what happens when you’re the second choice. Possible they have an offer out to their first choice, who is taking too long to get back to them. Also, this may be as simple as one of the decision makers being at trial or otherwise not responding with thumbs up or down. Again, not indicative one way or the other, so hang in there and don’t assume the worst!

I wouldn’t give up all hope! I had an interview at the end of October 2019, heard nothing for over a month even after following up, then in early-mid December received a job offer. I really thought I was out of the running for sure but the group was just super busy and it took a while for things to get moving!
This happened to me too but more recently! About 2 months. Sometimes the group is just so swamped things take time
That’s not long at all in the Am Law world. They are just slow, so much red tape and they like to talk to as many candidates as possible before making a decision.
I had a similar experience with two firms and I was working with a recruiter and yeah, I was second choice so the firms never got back to me because “things might change”
This is mostly a rant post. It's just been so long. I have lost hope, but still grasping since I'm given little crumbs. Ugh.
