So I got a Plan It offer on Amex Platinum to break down payments for large purchases over 3, 6 or 12 months for free (no fees).
Is there any downside to this kind of breakdown?
Does the statement balance remaining on your card, even though it doesn't accrue interest, reflect poorly on your credit utilization?

There’s no fees but there is often interest

When you go to pay it it’ll have a new category to know what to pay

No downside other than dip in credit score. But credit utilization does not have memory for credit score purposes, so unless you really need your credit score for mortgage purposes etc., that does not really count as a downside in my view. I have quite aggressively used Plan It for daughter’s tuition, wife’s handbag etc that runs into $20k+ each transaction.

She takes no ownership over finances and is making splurge purchase, and RV shopping immediately after buying a $50k truck. I’ve asked her to track her budget which hasn’t happened. She’s fairly wealthy (mid/low 7figs), but I’m worried it won’t last because she doesn’t do basic finances. None of her decisions seem thought out or planned in the slightest.
