I have an offer as Technical Manager in Mindtree India . I have about 12 years of relevant experience in Java application development and mentoring and team leading. They said it is an onsite role with Mindtree Germany ( already done with client interview). My India salary is decent as per Indian market standards.Any idea how much will they offer me as Germany salary for the onsite role? Is it the same like other MNCs - TCS , Infosys, HCL,Wipro etc? Or how much I can ask? Mindtree

Omg - who cares about letting them down, is my first reaction 🎉🙌 Congrats! Lucky you. Just tell them the truth in this case. Things like this happen.
Whenever I feel how you’re feeling, OP, I think of that old quote from Eleanor Roosevelt: “You wouldn’t worry about what people think of you if you realized how seldom they do.” You moving on, for your current place, is ultimatley just like their office supply place raising the price of copy paper: another business obstacle to be dealt with. Don’t piss in too many coffee pots on your way out and they’ll be fine.
That quote is amazing- I’m putting that into my rotation, thank you !
Agreed - you have to do what’s best for you and your family, and career. Handled with grace, normal people will understand.
Be honest, gracious, and don’t look back. Your loyalty is to yourself.

Congratulations!!! This is awesome news! Your current agency will be alright. There are lots of people looking for work. Congratulations again. 🎊🍾🎈
There’s so many people looking for a job, someone will be grateful to get yours, or you will save someone from getting laid off.
Tell them the truth. Good luck and congrats!
If your employment stood in the way of the agency securing the biggest account ever, what would they do?
Humble brag?
Yeah. This is like a State of LinkedIn post.
Offer them a tribute, in other words, recommend someone. It’s always nice to part ways in good spirits. You never know when and where you’ll meet again.
It’s a business they will be fine. You have to live YOUR life, they don’t. Congrats!
Be straight, be honest, don’t beat around the bush and don’t feel guilty - this is life in advertising. If they take it personally, it’s on them - and it’s water under the bridge for you.
Give the guy/girl a break. It was an honest question and he/she didn’t start out by saying...”I’m amazing. How will they live without me.”
Good for you. This happened to me a few years ago; someone I recruited for over a year was given an incredible offer by a former CCO. She had only been with us about 8 months. I was upset temporarily but she was honest and upfront and I could not say I wouldn’t have done the same thing.
I hope they handle it as well as you will with grace and honesty. It’s business as the end of the day and you need to do what’s right for you and your career, long-term. Be prepared for a counter though. We tried everything under the sun to get our CD to stay.
I am still close with the CD who left and we have vowed to work together again one day. I can’t wait to work for her ☺️
Congrats!
if you don’t me asking, why was permanent WFH an attractive selling point? convenience? i know the health reasons now, but do you think you’ll miss the interaction with the creatives live in the future?
The convenience factor is huge for me. I don't have a problem collaborating over video conference. And I will catch up in person every couple of weeks on production or new biz meetings.
Can I take your job?
This happens quite often in our business. They will understand and even try to counter offer. Just be polite and professional about it. It seems that it won’t be hard for you. Congratulations!
They actually won’t care as much as you think they will. Dismount you’re high horse of self importance.
For context, they searched for a year before ultimately hiring me. I was brought on to run the creative department and be 1 of 3 senior partner level leaders at the agency. My first performance review was glowing. The horse I was on was at least lil' Sebastian sized. 🤠
They won’t let you down easy if they need to get rid of you.... why do you feel you need to?
Tell them it’s permanent WFH and you can’t pass up the work/life balance that you’ve gotten used to. More companies have to go that direction (for roles that can thrive outside of a 24/7 team) if they want to keep great talent.
