struggling to find entry level FP&A jobs.

I come from a background in bookkeeping, not a CPA. I have a bachelors in business admin and graduated with a high GPA. I've come to learn that I really enjoy FP&A. I haven't been able to get one single interview. everyone is looking for 1 year of experience and I can't get my year in anywhere.

seeking advise.

If all the jobs require a year of experience, maybe you should look at taking a job a little lower on the totem pole to get that experience

How did you learn bookkeeping and how long have you been doing it?

Many FP&A jobs are heavier on planning and accounting than any true finance work, so they are going to look for people with CPAs or on the CPA track.

Many companies are also tightening, so I wouldn’t take it to heart if you are having trouble getting traction.

Be sure to highlight any planning, forecasting, financial reconciliation, etc work that you have done as that is what you will probably be doing. Also try networking. A good intro can get you in the door many places since resume pools tend to be like looking in a house of mirrors.

Moving on from Hotels (Hospitality)?

I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now, but it is very to commit to actually accept a new job offer since I really do love my job. My only complaint is, the pay vs workload is very small. I’m a manager now and my property offered me a director position… but the salary is still low! To make six figures, it’ll take another 5-6 years to grind it out.

Should I move on and go to a different industry? Opinions are welcome! Thanks in advance.

What is the difference between an illegal Hiring Hall Agreement & Software Certification?
For example, a software company issues its own certification that its partners enforce as a requirement to work in the industry by searching that software's website for ensure applicants have certification. To legally recommend who can work, a Hiring Hall is required to be certified by the majority of workers in construction or garment industries. How is software certs able to avoid this law?
