Transcripts still matter, yes, but not one single grade. T6 + competitive clerkship + biglaw experience + overall good gpa (otherwise you wouldn’t have gotten a competitive clerkship) = only an absolute psycho would ding you for B- in Evidence or whatever.
I would honestly find it weird if someone got their professor to write an addendum explaining their one bad grade after they’d been practicing for 3.5 years…

Agreed
Are you ok?

You should transfer to a T5.
Lol with the way the rankings change each year, that’s any T14 easy
I wouldn’t attach the letter and draw attention to it.
Confused - why would a prof. write you a letter if not for another clerkship?

Yeah you’re cooked. Must be from at least T1 with SCOTUS experience. Even then, some scotus clerks are getting blackballed for not having the credentials. GPA of 4.0 needed and you must name 5 relatives who are big law partners in the US.

One grade doesn’t make a difference
Are you and have you been consistently interviewing in big law? Honestly, I would be pretty surprised if anyone cared based on the other resume factors. What was your class rank? This reads to me like someone who is way into their own head. If you’re getting interviews and not moving forward, I would consider whether it’s how you’re interviewing rather than a single grade on your transcript.
If you’re not getting interviews, remove the addendum and keep your transcript to yourself until they ask for it.
For context, I was outside top 50% in a T2 law school.
How many years have you been practicing? Do you not want to go back to your firm after clerking?
Practicing for about 3.5 years. I might, but I’m planning in case recent events affect my previous firm’s needs. I keep hearing some firms aren’t accepting returning clerks whom they otherwise would have wanted due to the influx of government attorneys and business concerns among clients re the market.
I bombed my 1L first semester; lower ranked school than you. It’s never been an issue; I work at a V20.
