What irritates me is when people expect you to remedy an animal problem and then ignore all of your recommendations. The animal then returns with the same or a worse issue.
1) putting an animal down; 2) dealing with a negligent owner; and 3) not taking home every patient that I fall in love with. I absolutely love my job, though.
This is easy for me: putting an animal down, people who don't take care of their animals, and people who gift animals for Christmas and then want to get rid of them bc they cant care for them
There is sometimes a lot of drama in clinics, the hours are long and it's not a well-paying work, it's emotionally exhausting, and sympathy fatigue is a genuine problem.
Witnessing pet owners who are unwilling or unable to pay to save their animals and being powerless to intervene.
The job is both mentally as well as physically demanding. You will have to deal with a large number of clients who refuse to accept medical treatments and advice, leaving you with little choice but to let their pets suffer.
The worst is when there are pets you can't help because of financial constraints or owner noncompliance. All of my doctors are eager to do everything possible with limited resources, but there are those circumstances when we just cannot help.
