Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Hmmmm that definitely seems like there should be more contribution from the company to backfill the person or adjust comp. Could you bring it up in your next review but frame it as looking to progress / be promoted due to how much you are contributing above what you did last year?
I really like that input, that will be my next effort for sure. I was promoted with a small raise in Q1 but the departure of our team member happened in Q2 in the middle of our busy season. We asked for more compensation considering the circumstance and have been promised multiple times now they’re working on something. We have been provided a deadline for the package offering they’re “working on” which that deadline came and went with no further discussions. It’s as though we are being brushed under the rug and still expected to produce.
That's called "Cutting hours by attrition". When people leave, say by maternity leave, or just resigning, it's an opportunity to save wage costs by not doing anything. The work done by that previous employee will just be slowly absorbed by the remaining staff
