The U.S. added 178,000 jobs in March. The unemployment rate ticked down to 4.3% in March. Unemployment remains low by historical standards.

The health care sector stood out as a top source of hiring in March, adding 76,000 jobs, the BLS said. The construction sector, as well as transportation and logistics, saw increases also. Employment in the federal government continued to decline in March, shedding 18,000 jobs. The federal government has lost 355,000 jobs, since Oct 2024.

Due to obvious conditions my comp for the calendar year (salary+bonus) is back to 2017 levels although my overall sales are more than double and 1/3 less total comp than last year. 5 years post-MBA and all my classmates are VPs in industry or Principals in consulting/IB (some are even Partners/MDs already). I sat in the same classes with these folks for 2 years — probably outperformed some of them academically.
