There’s one attorney at my firm who bills insane hours and brings in clients, but is toxic to work with. He is condescending, rude, and impossible to please. Should firms tolerate that kind of behavior just because someone makes money?

Should they? Probably not. Will they? Of course. Money talks.

Agreed with A1. There are individuals like that at most firms. I was at one firm where the consensus was they were a “cancer” and causing problems firm wide. But they didn’t want to lose the $$. Ended up giving them their own department to isolate them.

My parents are coming to US for 5 months. Any recommendations for health insurance ?

Some PMs always catch my careless mistakes, and call me out hard. Now whenever I get an email from them I assume the worst and get anxious. The more I get anxious the more mistakes I make, and terrified this will lead to me for being “incompetent” and will get fired/passed up for promotions, then I mentally shut down at work and stop trying. Always been outspoken and an overachiever, now becoming shy awkward and quiet. I get panic attacks at work and feel trapped in my own body. Pls help!!

Transactional associate. Lateraled 6 months ago and one of the biggest pain points has been my new firm’s inclination to “hop on a call”, which of course requires every single stakeholder to join. The end result being every call has 25 people on it and nothing actually gets done because no one wants to ask a question that could come off as silly. It’s destroying my ability to get anything done during the day. It’s a complete performance and it drives me nuts.

Which one would you choose?

1) Am100 firm with 1900+ billable hour requirement, very reputable in the region
