Thoughts on juice cleanses?
Hi fishes,
I interviewed with Siemens Energy for SAP ABAP position on 21st Jan. The interview went on for about an hour and in the end, the interviewer asked my expected ctc and wanted assurance if I won't negotiate on Siemens offer with some other company as i am currently serving notice period and join Siemens if provided an offer.
Till now , the HR team has not reached out to me for salary discussions and my LWD is 7th Feb. Can i expect a call or i got rejected ?Siemens

Rent and experience the city life before you make such a large purchase.
FYI monthly maintenance fees for a condo/apt in NYC can be more than the mortgage, 2-5k on top of mortgage.

HOA fees? True
I don't think you're going to get a stand alone house and good for singles in the same place. While obviously there are some singles everywhere, the majority of singles are in apartments fairly clustered around Manhattan if not in it. I wouldn't go as far as the person who said it has to be Manhattan or Williamsburg -- I think most of North Brooklyn, Astoria and Long Island City in Queens are also pretty decent for singles, as well as Hoboken and Jersey City Historic Downtown across the river on the PATH -- but you're not going to buy a house for 800K in any of those places. Houses under a million are going to be pretty far out and not near a subway. Suggest poking around on Streeteasy to see what's available in your price range. Also heads up that most affordable apartments to purchase in NYC are co-ops, not condos -- if you're not familiar, it's a weird structure that doesn't exist many other places, thinking of it like a condo with a super powerful HOA that gets to vote on your buying it is a decent place to start. There are some condos here, but they tend to be more expensive/scarce.
It seems like maybe an apartment near Prospect Park in brooklyn would be a good compromise? Prospect Heights has good food and manhattan subway access. You want to be on the 4/5/6 subway train for the Chrysler building with no transfers and you can do it from there.
Also maybe think about Manhattan near the top end of Central Park on the East side? It gets more affordable as you get further north, and the park has the Ravine up there, which might be a good fit with your hiking.
Midwood is a family neighborhood. I had a former coworker who grew up there, still lives there and recommended it, and when we visited in our neighborhood hunt there were definitely affordable apartments to be had, plus actual stand alone houses that were out of our price range but more affordable than some other neighborhoods. but I don't think it has either the nature/active amenities access or the critical mass of singles OP was looking for.
What are you hoping to get for your 800k?
Ideally a starter family home, but realize that might be unrealistic. I'd be fine with even a condo - just want to avoid paying rent (yes, I understand that sometimes it's more economical to rent)
Near Chrysler Bldg means close to grand central station. That means you are close to metro north rail lines. You could live in white plains, Mt Vernon, New Rochelle, etc with that commute time (door to door not just train time).
It’s not like Williamsburg is the only part of Brooklyn lol. There are plenty of people dating in neighborhoods like Bushwick, Bed Stuy, and Crown Heights too. But maybe you like to date at a certain income level in which case yeah Williamsburg is more expensive.
