Another new term for a not-so-new pattern. I've seen this before, multiple times, in different jobs throughout my life and it always seems like a way for companies to get the same amount of work done, but without paying for additional people, but also not compensating current employees for their additional efforts/time.
Honestly we're seeing it a lot....I'vebeen taking on more stuff as a way to 'prove I'm ready for the next step' but really, it's because we're low on senior people and therefore work needs to be redistributed
I definitely had to look up more information on "Quiet Hiring" after seeing this. It feels like it is the business way of getting back at all the quiet quitters over the last year. LOL. I'm not a fan. More and more companies are hiring contractors for open positions instead of posting them or promoting. Hopefully it's a brief trend.
