Manager in industry isn’t very senior
So then I should just go into the interview like any other? I don’t need specific types of responses ready that would elicit “managerial” experience?
Having led teams (though I have experience with this) or doing other manager level type work that I’ve seen on other reqs of similar nature, and they emphasize being able to learn on the job. They do want 3 years experience (which I kind of have if you include internships) so I guess my question is how to do I amp up my experience for a higher level position? Or is there no need to since this doesn’t seem like a typical manager level role (at least on paper)?
Is it in industry? Manager there doesn’t mean anything. Most of my clients are “managers” and they know or manage nothing
Director-level roles in industry would require more of the “managerial” experience you’re mentioning
Really? Because most jobs related to the one I’m interviewing for have more “managerial” related qualifications listed on their reqs. That’s why I have only applied to this one since it seemed not managerial
If they want three years of experience and you have three years of experience then I wouldn’t be worried
You’re likely already light years ahead of folks your age in industry
There's no harm in interviewing and getting an offer
OP it sounds like you don't feel confident in your ability to perform. Do the interview and get that experience - costs you nothing. When you have the offer, consider whether you think you will excel in this position. Be honest with yourself. Throwing yourself into the deep end and then drowning will put you in a bad exit situation. You will drown if you don't have confidence in yourself.
That said, 3 years of experience for manager position? You'll be managing your time and that's it.
Got it. One of my dream companies’ recruiters have already reached out so I guess I’ll try that method with the other one. Thanks!
