Help! I may have screwed myself over. I got an offer for $80,000 from a company for a role that was very hard/impossible to find salary data for online (I currently make $78,000) and I negotiated and asked for $94,000 (knowing that was a little high and I wouldn’t get that). The recruiter came back to me and asked if I could provide her data to support this ask. It’s literally based on my current salary and expected promotion/bonus (I know neither of those are certain). I just don’t know how to
I have only had male mentors and I really wish I had a female role model to look up to in this field. Any advice for how to network and find a good female mentor? Im up for promotion to manager this year and I want to leave the firm after. I don’t know where to start and I lack the confidence and network needed to change careers. Any useful advice? Thank you!!
If I accept the promotion to Partner/Principal what's the least number of years I could work without it being a financial mistake. I have an opportunity to do something completely unrelated that's my passion, but I feel like that's the wrong decision when I'm this close. The other opportunity should still be there for 2-3 years
Does anyone have any “I made it” items they would get themselves to celebrate a big milestone or promotion?
Not dick measuring but really curious on what the % raise you've gotten the past 2 years. Gotten 4% and 3% here and feeling like I'm getting screwed over.
Anybody leave big law for a couple of years to raise your kids and successfully rejoined the legal field? Is big law ever an option again?
Does anyone know if Starwood does a global promotion for the Fall? If so when does it usually start?
Any special promotion days for seniors at ey? Currently staff 2. Does ey fly you out somewhere or just gives you a title
Ask for career advice - my MSA friend started in industry as staff tax accountant four years ago and never really got promoted but got 10% raise after all these years. (to be continued)
Got offered a consulting job with CFGI for a manager position (12% raise). I don’t like Audit anymore and it just makes me unhappy. It impacts my health a lot. Had to work till 4-5 am during busy time and some very busy days during this summer. Partners tried to help me move to Deals since beginning of the year but it won’t happen right away. They will ask me to do the audit for another year. My guts told me to move to CFGI but I’m nervous. Should I move now in Sept or wait for PwC uncertainly?
I'm falling apart mentally due to stress causing issues on my mental health, but I'm trying to stay strong because I desperately need a promotion.
What is the salary slab for consultant in ACN? I have been told by HR that my career path is a fast track promotion path from 9-->7 level as Manager.(yet to join as awaiting offer letter though) May i know what is the approximate years ACN is looking for manager level? And what is the salary slab for Manager in ACN? Awaiting response from ACN fishes!!!
I think I'm mentally checking out of work. All the pursuits I was leading (and which were building my case for promotion to manager) are falling through either because of clients having put everything on hold or because the requirements necessitating the work are being waived... my jaw has been locked now for 2 days 😬
Any copywriters here who have published novels? I'm set to finish my 4th rewrite by end of year and hopefully shop it around soon. If I manage to get it published, you think I could translate it into a raise somehow? Also, would love any general advice -- on querying, on finding beta readers, or craft books you'd recommend. Save the Cat is my plotting bible, and I also love Self-Editing for Fiction Writers. Any other recs?
Hi all - I’m working as a Jr AE at a remote agency. Before full-time at this agency, I interned there for 2 years and often did pro-bono work. I love my company so much, but I often feel stuck when it comes to salary and growth. The salary is minimum wage and every time I ask about a raise they agree I need one but never get around to it. Today, I was offered a position at another agency as a remote AE with more than double my current salary. I didn’t seek this job out but don’t know what to do.
I am a L10 working in the SAP space within CDO at Accenture. I have been at the firm for a little over 7 months and would like to know come the next promotion cycle how I could switch from CDO to C&M.
Heartwarming diversity on display at the DNC! From Republicans to Democrats, representation from all races - even Northern Marinara Islands got a shout out. Go Joe & Kamala!
How do you all handle stress at work? I’m on a though project and feeling sort of hung out to figure it all myself. My stomach is in knots and I’m waking up in the middle of the night thinking about the case.
I have an interview with Deloitte Strategy & Analytics for a Senior Consultant role. What can I expect in the case? Is it a regular case? Or something new? The email I got is throwing me off. Help, thanks :)
Wild that conservatives think they're on the right side of history after supporting officials who let tens of thousands die needlessly and will now try to take away people's healthcare.
How tough is it to lateral to a larger bank, or to exit into corp dev/strategy at a "large cap" company at the VP-ish level? I'm currently in IB at a smaller MM bank, but kind of trapped until I get my green card which obviously will be a few years. I don't hate my bank/team but I do feel limited by the bank (since obviously reputation/size dictates the deals the bank can win)
“This global pandemic is exactly what our industry needed.” Okay...now repeat this exact phrase to the hundreds already laid off and all the ones to come. 🤯 https://www.campaignlive.com/article/took-global-pandemic-draw-line-sand-adland-sorely-needed/1678340
Are there any married couples working at two different big 4 firms? How did you make sure your finances were compliant with both?
I’m a 2nd year and effectively just ran a deal on my own with the partner. It ran smoothly, I got praise from the partner, and the partner said that they trust me to do most stuff without their sign off (so no need to check with them in future unless I’m really unsure). Generally there is one or two mid levels above me, and I find it way harder to do my job when they are managing me. They like to keep me on the bench, get me to do minor tasks and don’t let me take responsibility and ownership.
Potentially have an offer from a local tech startup. I’m 24, currently make ~$95K base and ~$50K, with an additional ~$20K in profit sharing (so total comp around $160-170K). Offer would likely (cont)
I made limited EQ partner in 2019 . This week I was told I’m getting moved to counsel effective Jan 1. My hours were negatively impacted in 2019 by an ill parent (only child) and in 2020 multiple clients said pencils down for half the year (& additional family illness & a death), + kids. I know nothing about the counsel role. What terms/arrangements have people negotiated? I don’t know what negotiation ability I’ll have, but wanted to be better informed.
Sick of paying for cable I don’t really use, minus live sports on the weekends, anyone have good experience with YouTube tv or PlayStation vue ?
