PHR vs SHRM vs AIRS? Which one should I pursue?
Curious what market rate would be for my role: Head of HR for a tech start up, nationwide/remote company based out of Pittsburgh. I’m the first HR and run everything except payroll. Responsible for building comp program.career pathing, emerging leaders program, performance program, all recruiting/onboarding, L&D, etc. Thecompany is scaling and high growth. I have SPHR-SCP and 15 years experience in corporate and small companies. Currently at $102K base + 20% incentive. Seems low to me, thoughts?

Depends on what you want to do with it. If you’re looking to get into or grow in consulting then prosci has more value. I’ve been on several engagements where my clients liked the prosci methodology
I was previously in consulting (ACN), brief stint in industry and now looking to transition back into consulting. I’ve had a client mention it to me, but couldn’t elaborate on it as he heard a coworker mention that it should be required.
I haven’t taken either of them, but I’ve heard anecdotally from friends (and others on here actually) that if you know change management, then Prosci doesn’t actually teach you anything. But it checks the box for having an OCM certificate. I’ve also been told that CCMP is a bit more challenging than Prosci and some folks think you get more out of it because of that.
Thanks for sharing!!!
I think it’s more about the industry wanting you to prove a certification even if it doesn’t actually mean you know how to implement. With the CCMP you have to have multiple years of experience to apply which should indicate something over prosci where you literally can just show up and they even help you answer the test at the end. (I have prosci fyi)
PROSCI cert is a rip-off in my opinion. $4K. And anyone with any background can pay to get it. It has no correlation to being an experienced OCM practitioner
In terms of education/knowledge, it’s not that dissimilar and you can Google ADKAR methodology or watch some YouTube and get the gist of it. But I’ve seen some RFP’s or even some specific clients say that they only want change management SME’s with Prosci certs. I got a CCMP btw and no one has once questioned my change management experience.
I did the PROSCI certification in December and echo what SC1 said. It was useful, but if you have experience working in change management you're not going to learn anything groundbreaking. That said, they do provide a lot of great tools and templates, and senior management definitely responds well to the framework. My org paid for it and I'd recommend you only do it if your company is paying. Overall it was an easy certification to get and I'd recommend it.
If you’re a member of ACMP, they offer ProSci Cert a couple times a year at a significant discount …
Really…I did not know this.
One of my friends just did the prosci training and can’t recommend it enough!
The company did
Any change management books y’all recommend?!
