Presidential pardon is an arbitrary power. Trump era has shown us that this should be overturned.

No surprise, and while it doesn’t matter, to accept a pardon is, in itself, an admission of guilt. So there will be plenty of pardons going around.

like

Possibly, but then you’d have to apply that to every presidential pardon.

This is the first of many. He’s going to pardon Everyone in his circle, including Manafort, the Trump Kids, Javanka, and maybe himself, although there’s a legit question whether he has the power to pardon himself. The smarter path would be resigning 10 mins before Biden’s inauguration and having Pence pardon him in exchange for a future presidential endorsement. Re all of the pardons he will loudly protest the innocence of all involved and say he’s pardoning people to spare them from the burdens of unjust future political persecution. 🤢

like

Yep. And many federal crimes also violate state law.

This aged well...

Yeah haha

I don't think the pardon will happen. If Flynn accepts a pardon, he waives his 5th amendment right against self-incrimination.

That means he can be forced to testify under oath about his many crimes, including those in which Individual 1 was an active participant.

But trump might be dumb enough to issue a pardon and put himself in legal jeopardy.

Not entirely correct in important respects. See my prior post.

Therapists be warned… 3 SLPs have sued this company in the last year because of unethical management & supervisory practices by the owner. They also tend to “bait & switch” or make lots of promises they can’t keep. Get everything in writing because they often do the bait and switch with benefits. Ask to see the employee handbook before accepting offer and read the fine print RE benefits. A later career profession who can stay under the owner’s radar could be ok at this job.

What are your thoughts on invoking the rule of sequestration at a deposition in a case in state court? I have heard some attorneys argue that it is inapplicable, while others have argued that it does apply.

And does your answer change if the "extra" person is adverse to the deponent? For instance, a corporate plaintiff having two reps at the defendant's deposition.

Ok, I’m gonna say this. Schools should open. Now hear me out. My wife is a family doctor, she is working insane hours, she is treating covid patients, and there is a lot of days when she has to stay at the hospital without coming home. My neighbour works in a local grocery store, so he has been at work since the Day 1 of lockdown. So if you need medical help, or want to eat, it’s ok for those people to be at work, but their kids have to stay home? Cont’d >>
