TMI, but my wife has to take bactrim for a UTI, we are on week 13, and she's been very anxious and scared to take it because she spends way too much time on google. But is it something we should be worried about? How can I help re-assure her that it's going to be ok?

Ask your doctor. If you don’t trust your doctor, get a new doctor. Strangers on the internet won’t have better answers. Also — there’s a huge amount of crap out there around pregnancies. Science says a glass of wine in your third trimester is fine, but people still freak out. My solution: ask a doctor.

What is she concerned about? It’s just an antibiotic. This isn’t medical advice but one of my kids took it as a prophylactic (to prevent possible infection, per a doctor prescription of course) for much longer than that.

Oh damn I did not get that out your post. I thought you meant week 13 of taking bactrim but I see you mean she’s 13 weeks pregnant, is that right?

For that I have no idea. I think I would defer to my medical professionals, and if I chose to do some perusing of the literature, I would only trust competent sources (no Facebook mom groups or whatnot) and understand my limitations in understanding what I was reading.

Best of luck, and congrats.

Can she just take cranberry juice instead?

That doesn’t work if she’s at antibiotic levels. And it has a ton of sugar which apparently isn’t great. Maybe straight concentrate, but she should just talk to her doc about her concerns.

Why would you ask such a question on here? I’m not sure why you are ripping your wife for spending to much time in google. You are asking a bunch of management consultants for anonymous medical advice. If you are going to seek anonymous advice at least ask anonymous doctors

I think OP was just reaching out to see if there was anyone who had gone through a similar experience. As humans we like to look for people who have similar experiences who can offer some reassurance or advice. OP likely understands that everyone is different and has different experiences but I think your response is harsh.

Doctors won't prescribe meds to a pregnant person unless absolutely necessary. Even with meds that have such a tiny risk, like Tylenol, they are wary of giving it.

My point is that if the doc prescribed it at this point in the pregnancy, then the benefits far outweigh any possible risks. They are the expert. Get a second opinion if you want, but from another doctor, not Google.

My wife also took it many years ago when she was about 20 weeks, and there were no side effects.

Seems that the vaccine that usually takes more than 10 years to develop, test for side effects and go through the regulation process is being very fast tracked to roll out - which is a super great thing to potentially eradicate the virus. on the other side of the spectrum, people with life sciences n healthcare insights, how reliable and safe would you say vaccine (being fast tracked) is...?

There’s no excuse that by the age of 25 you have never tried therapy. I’m speaking directly to the demographic in this group who I’m sure over 95% of people in here are earning 6 figures. Key word: TRY. I understand it’s not for everyone but to have never even attempted seeking therapy is a injustice to yourself and the people around you.

I have a Q that I worry is going to make me sound like a jerk, but want some opinions. I do strength training 2x/wk with a trainer who was assigned to me at a gym where I bought a pack of sessions. I don’t really consider myself “his” client bc the relationship is managed by the gym… but lately he keeps saying like “I can’t wait to see what my clients give me for Christmas” and I find it super awkward. I pay $150 per session for these workouts (cont’d in comments)…

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.
