Meta technical solutions consultant interview prep - can someone let me know if they have gone through the technical rounds for Technical Solutions Consultant role? Can you share what to prepare for since it’s not a data science type of role so most likely not hard level MySQL questions. Any specific types of queries that I should learn? Thanks!

A BCG recruiter ghosted me after she reached out to schedule an interview. How long should I wait before following up? What is the common courtesy to give to ppl at BCG. I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group

Interviewing on Thanksgiving? MBB has no boundaries
Haha no worries thanks
Coach
Try to reach out to a consultant friend internally to help you push it. The recruiter might be trying to hit a YE goal and not really having your interest in mind. We use to do that at McK in the past and now no longer have specific YE targets for recruiters (we just look at it over time). They are wasting your time and the consultant time. Anywho, you should tell your interviewer.
Few other tips:
Don't worry, keep calm. Treat the case as if you were solving WITH the interviewer, not for them.
Treat it as another day on the job. Ask questions, even if you feel they're stupid.
Be comfortable with not knowing:
- Don't know how to calculate something? Ask.
- Don't know the meaning of something? Ask.
No one was born knowing what to consider when opening a ski resort at an inherited mountain in Europe from a deceased uncle (real case I got at another MBB).
Be curious:
Found something interesting about the case? Ask.
It's probably a real case that the interviewer has worked on and they'll love to give random facts about it, so show that you're interested.
Keep calm:
Made a mistake during mental calculations? They will probably suggest the number is wrong, so keep calm and just check it again. Not a big problem getting some numbers wrong, I made 7 calculation mistakes during my last round interview with a senior partner and well, it worked out.
Be data-driven:
Never make assumptions that aren't based on facts, always state your hypothesis, why they're relevant and how you would test them. Which data would you need? What graphs would (in)validate your hypothesis?
Most importantly: Do not cram ready one-size-fits-all frameworks to the case.
Focus on being structured as possible and clearly articulating your thoughts in a structured manner.
Also, remain confident and cool. You’re not going to be able to cram case studies and get them down in two days… so I think focusing on making sure you’re structured and not rambling will be the most bang for your buck.
Try to make it more conversational and use your interviewer for help by explaining your framework or approach, the reasons why you’re leaning that way and ask if they have any thoughts on your approach or if they agree. Etc
Good luck! You got this, friend.
Thank you for your advice and support 🙂
Look up mathemagics for mental math help. You’d be surprised how bad standard education is compared to best practices.
Rocketblocks for practice core math & casing partners.
Crafting cases for the rest.
Doesn’t 1rd have a case? If it does, push it back a few weeks
Yes it's a case interview. The recruiter said this week or never :( I think it's their policy for some weird reason.
Plenty of prep sites have mental math drills - may be worth checking them out. Buy the cheapest subscription and cancel after the interviews, if needed
Thank you I just subscribed for rocket blocks. 7 days free :)
Craftingcases.com is the best I've found, by far.
