I would not quit in the moment. If it does not go well I would say “thank you for listening. This is not the response I expected or hoped for. I’d like to take some time to process and come back to you.”
Gives you and then time to decide what next, and may spook them into action.
This is really good advice. It pains me to leave my team, who are also struggling, but they know how much I care for them and this is my big, last ditch effort to save it. I am aware they are unhappy and it sucks I can’t help.
For the record, I have another work opportunity lined up bec this has been coming for a long time. How management reacts will be everything.
VP 1 gave good advice. I’d also recommend position the situation as you are advocating for your team. Let them know that you’re raising the red flag, this is it sustainable for the team and that client work is starting to suffer. Express that you’re worried your team members will quit.... which will also negatively effect the client work.
Good luck, this is a tough situation and a tough time!
Thank you! Also great advice.
Update: I put in my notice. It’s the best thing to do. My boss accepted my resignation.
It’s weird but it was such a fucked up situation including being demoted while on maternity leave
It’s not illegal because they didn’t cut my pay. I def went to an employment lawyer. I wasn’t quiet about it. Probably why they enjoyed running me into the ground until I left.
Keep us posted!
