Note to self - never think about applying at EY. KPMG is closed Christmas to new year ✌🏼

Both? Both what?

like

Sorry I meant both Christmas and New Years are on a Tuesday. Normally EY Just gives us Christmas Day/New Years day off but seems awkward to give us off Tuesday and not Monday.

like

Yeah no one at the firm works those days anyway. Unfortunately we have to use personal/sick/vacation days, while I think the other 3 big firms have those as paid holidays

like

Hahaha! That’s wishful thinking because they won’t. I can already hear them say "You already got an entire week off for July 4th, are you seriously asking for MORE days off for Christmas? You work for us, not the other way around!”

Just take a personal or sick day. Easy fix.

I am thinking of leaving my stable full time job for a contract position (ongoing with no time frame) for a bigger raise (making an exra $20/hour) with a large tech company. I'll still get benefits through Aquent so it's not a huge loss. It just feels risky in terms of being a contractor and the potential for it to end at anytime. Seems like a good opportunity though to get my foot in the door and potentially apply for full time jobs later on

For all you retail people...are you experiencing a very slow holiday season? I am a retail manager and I feel like this season has been freakishly slow. I thought we would at least match last year's number or be up a little bit but we are trending down. I talked to employees of other stores in the mall and they are saying the same thing. Is anyone else experiencing this in their market?

startup Gig Alert: I am looking for a brand designer to join our startup team at Lifelines (truly a startup and we’re not in stores yet). We’re a product company set for revolutionizing how people approach sensorial wellness and I’m looking for someone with holistic experience in branding / art direction with a clear, bold visual style. Around 5 years of experience preferred. But work and personality trump years in experience. Always remote+unlimited PTO. Send me books / portfolios.

If buy the partners you work with regularly a holiday gift, how much do you spend? Usually I get baked goods or food items which you can’t tell the actual amount spent on. This year, though, I’d like to support local restaurants by encouraging people to order takeout—hence, giving gift cards.

How much is appropriate for a restaurant gift card from an associate to a partner?

Do you pay your credit cards in full every month?

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.
