Hi fishes!
I've been trying to break into DS/analytics roles for so many months now, from a non-tech job. I have undergrad projects and internships alone to show my ds skills.

Lagavulin
BJ
Get the Lagavulin. If he likes it, good. If he doesn’t like it, find a more worthy boyfriend.

Personal favorite scotch is Oban 14
Macallan 18 is terrific but pricey. Macallan 15 is almost as good, and only somewhat more expensive than Macallan 12. Balvenie Doublewood is very solid at the $40/bottle level. Or find a restaurant that does tastings and take your BF there so he can sample a range.
Laphroaig Cask Strength
Old monk rum!
Anything aged 18+ and you should be good...
Whistlepig. Just bought it for my friend for his bachelor party. Very smooth
Oban, maccallan, or anything that starts with glen should be fine
Macallan sherry cask. 18Y is great, so's the 12Y if you're on a budget
Depends on his taste preferences, each of the five scotch regions have their own unique attributes. If he enjoys a smoky taste, Islay scotch’s are your best bet. Lagavulin and Ardbeg are good choices. Speyside scotchs are a little sweeter, with more floral aromas. Glenlivet and Macallan are good bets there. Highlands vary on the taste, going from more fruity in the south to smoky in the north. Favorites here are Glenmorangie, Highland Park and Loch Lomond
How much do you eat to spend? Are we talking $40 a bottle or $400?
I'm thinking <$100
Thanks everyone for the suggestions~
The Suntory company makes really excellent Japanese whiskey. I believe the Hibiki is approximately $100/bottle
Bullet rye
