Since Covid happened, I keep seeing posts about people working longer hours from home than at office. Well has anyone actually achieved the opposite, which is working less hours? You save time on commuting, meaningless meetings, coffee breaks, random questions from coworkers, etc. This question doesn’t apply to parents with young kids.
Would love some opinions, moms. Because of covid, I’ve kept my kids home since March 2020. I predict we will not have spent $5k on dependent care in 2020 that we elected last year. Almost but not quite. It’s open enrollment time, should I elect the some amount for 2021?
My Covid antibody test was negative but I swear I had Covid before.....I don’t understand this virus
Soooo turns out vaccines don’t protect you from long COVID. Do we still wanna go back to the office and risk that? I don’t.
Covid Progression 1) Wait for Herd Immunity 2) Just protect yourself with the vaccine 3) we need to incentivize people to get vaccinated 4) don’t worry that the vaccines don’t work, still get them 5) we need to ban the unvaccinated from society 6) “I got my twelfth booster shot” 7) “the unvaccinated are killing people” 8) “are we justified in getting rid of antivaxxers from a utilitarian standpoint?” 9) “please step on this train sir” 10) gov labels anyone against lockdowns domestic terrorist
DPW has made the Covid-19 vaccine mandatory for all U.S. offices. Anyone who doesn‘t have the vaccine will not be permitted to enter the premises. Can I please check how the other BigLaw firms are dealing with this? Don‘t want to start a political discussion, but this seems very intruisive to me.
Looking for some advice. I’m in very early pregnancy, and thus only my husband and I know. My firm is doing a conference with approximately 50-100 people for two days this month, so I still won’t be telling anyone as I’ll only be about 9 weeks. I’m currently vaccinated, and the conference is requiring anyone unvaccinated to take a PCR test prior to arrival and wear a mask the entire time, but I’m extremely anxious to go given the increased risk of Covid and pregnancy. Should I go?
COVID vaccine reactions? I got shot 1 of Pfizer on Friday. For me I had a sore arm for two days and was extremely tired. I’d love to hear others who got JnJ or Moderna.
Despite being vaccinated, I came down with COVID last week. I’m wiped out. Zero energy, high fever, coughing. On Friday partner calls to tell me he wants me to write a letter which I decline due to my condition. He respond it can wait until Monday. It’s Monday and my symptoms are largely unchanged. Am I seriously expected to work right now? I can barely stay awake long enough to write this question.
Unvaccinated people need to stop with the “but if you’re vaccinated why do you care” argument. Unvaccinated people are akin to drunk drivers. Even if I am sober and wearing my seatbelt, a drunk driver could still cause serious harm to me, my family, and those I care about. An unvaccinated person has a higher likelihood of catching and spreading Covid to others because they are cowards who care only about themselves. You are harming other people.
Covid is terrible, however it’s kind of fun experimenting with different types of programs and lessons. What is your favorite?
Transitioning to another big4 advisory practice next month. Worried about networking and learning a new role virtually. Any advice? Anyone else make a transition during COVID?
How to handle anxiety from Covid?
Now that many are returning to classrooms, does it worry anyone that thousands are coming into the country after testing positive for Covid and not even being quarantined or detained?
So I was in contact with someone who got covid ~2 weeks ago. Haven’t vaxxed yet not bc I’m against it but because it’s not available yet due to shortage from where I’m from. Already got tested and came out negative but my housemates insists on doing another week of quarantine in my room. So 3 weeks in total. Is that even necessary?
What are some of your favorite Breastfeeding friendly work clothes?? Trying to balance warmth for winter and functionality...style too but given covid wfh am less concerned with looking super nice.
Everyone I know who was crazy safe during COVID round 1 is now sick. I think it’s because they didn’t get any exposure for so long. If we have another lockdown, what does it mean for public immune system ability to fight other viruses?
So how do you feel the consulting life is impacting your wellness as you hop over the age of 40, I’m finding under Covid I’m much more healthy/lost weight etc.
Is it reasonable to ask how many hours people work at an in-house interview? I just don’t want to take an in-house job where I have to work as much as in big law but with less pay and not sure how else I’d find that out
Kinda disturbing how intensely some folks ordering the iPhone X are being attacked online. Why does it matter if others want a phone? It seems to be another manifestation of the culture wars.
Any H1B person travel to the UK from US in the last month and returned back stateside without any border issues? Planning to go to the UK end of December for a week. Also does the March Proclamation EO for entry restrictions from@UK apply to H1Bs?
What are your thoughts on moving from analytics consulting (incentive compensation, forecasting) to strategy consulting? I recently made the same move and am wondering if I made the right choice?
Looking to get a few certifications, I have worked in both IT and HR consulting and am trying to decide between ITIL, SHRM, and PMP. Any thoughts on which would be best for future, quickest to get, hardest test? I get the cert paid for and a bonus upon completion, so trying to decide which one to pursue or the order if I want multiple.
My life is a Gordian knot of problems. Pretty much every major pillar is a mess: I’ve been trying to deal with abusive family for years, and recently my longterm boyfriend broke up with me, and my job is being given to someone else while I’m pushed to a lesser position. I’ve been trying so hard for so long. I’ve been job hunting for months. I am tired. It really feels like death is the quick and easy solution, the metaphoric “sword” that will solve the unsolvable.
Hello I have offer from HCL 14 L and IBM 15 L. Which good for future and life balance and work culture. Help appreciated😊
In accenture countdown site. I can see project as '' bench-state''.. What does it means??
Never thought I’d see the day that Droga is promoting creative roles on LinkedIn. Is it the Accenture effect, or is it on a really bad client/has D5 really lost its allure?
How do you guys take care of your parents back home . I am a single child living in USA . I don’t want to go back and it is getting tougher day by day .
Interviewing is stressful...
For benchmarking I think it’d be helpful for all on here to see starting comp. (undergrad or MBA) at top consulting firms: Firm: Base salary: Total possible per. bonus: Profit share: 401K:
I want to personally thank all the men who use emojis in work emails / skype meeting chat boxes. I now know who not to worry about.
Hello folks, I am a Senior Consultant at a big 4. Wanted to ask about Microsoft Azure consulting? What is the type of work, work life balance, compensation etc. Has anyone from you made a switch from big4 to Microsoft consulting who can help me understand the pros and cons. Thanks in Advance.
I'm new at consulting and think/worry about work literally almost 24/7. I always feel like I should be doing more and worry about shit client or manager might throw at us. Any tips for staying sane?
How is the culture at Baker Tilly? I’ve seen a lot job postings there lately. Baker Tilly
