Vets, do you prefer working for a private practice or a corporate clinic?

I had a brief stint working for a corporate practice, and I wouldn't return. Corporate clinics often don't appeal to me. In my perspective, the profit-first philosophy has no place in patient care.

Private practice, i get more time off than i did working in corporate clinic

Hmm. I'd say private practice. I have more freedom here so I won't trade my spot for a corporate job.

I want financial stability so I'd say corporate clinic. How about you, OP?

Corporate clinic for me. Competitive pay, paid vacation, health insurance, veterinary care discounts, among other benefits are what pulled me to a corporate-owned hospital.

Even though private practice isn't ideal, I wouldn't exchange it for anything. I like the freedom my clinic has to make decisions that are in the patient's and their family's best interests without having to answer to a corporate organization. Since I place a high priority on ethics in my field of work, working for a clinic that upholds those principles and prioritizes patients is essential to me.

My first job was at a privately operated clinic. Because she had to be both a doctor and a business owner, the doctor was a terrible micromanager. Other than subsidized pet care, we didn't have health insurance or any other advantages. I'm not sure if I'd return to private practice. My experience has been completely the contrary of what I had believed. That corporate life is intrinsically worse than private life.

To be honest, I now like the corporate speciality path. The medicine is superior, and I believe there is more room for development and movement. It could be simple to switch departments if you become dissatisfied with your current position.

Private practice is pleasant and much more relaxed on a daily basis, but you run the danger of receiving less-than-satisfactory care and may become trapped if you have a subpar physician or practice manager. During my tenure in private practices, I felt that workplace issues weren't valued as highly or addressed properly. In a bigger company, you can escalate if something happens.

Does any one here have any info, good or bad things to know about the area. We toured 3 different homes and they were relatively affordable by (600-750k) and it seemed like a small town community but we are not familiar with east coast/ New England. It’s going to be our first move there.

If you're being told "take your full lunch" (because by law you need to be given a certain amount of lunch depending on how many hours you work) but then you're told, if work's not done you need to stay until it is, and now people don't want to take their full lunches because it means they'll have to stay after work longer, is that coercion a violation of any federal labor laws?

I need help. I think I’m being underpaid at my job I’ve been at for 3 1/2 years. I’m a full time receptionist for a veterinary hospital but I also manage the reception area (I answer all questions and if someone makes a mistake I’m the one the fix it) and am an in house trained veterinary assistant but can do a techs job (unlicensed) and I do help the technicians out anytime they need and I’m only getting paid $13 an hour while a crew member at arbys gets paid $15 . What should I do ?

Hi everyone, I’m seeking some advice - my dog (8yrs old) was attacked several months ago by another dog and after she became depressed and anxious. We got her anti depression meds and those seemed to help but how a lot now a lot of signs are pointing to a potential brain tumor. To get an MRI is +1k. My mom doesn’t want to spend money but it just hurts me so much to see the behavior - she walks around in constant circles, looks sad, seizures, hides under the bed. Any advice would be appreciated.
