Advice needed - boyfriend has almost 3.5 years of finance experience at a bank. Interviewed for PwC valuation senior associate and now recruiter says they want to hire him at “experienced associate” because he has no valuation experience. Is this too big of a step backwards in career? Should he push back and see if it gets him anywhere? If he does accept Associate, is it reasonable to ask for written, definitive timeline (1 year?) for promo to Senior upon meeting standards? Help!

Nah business is business. Do what’s best for u. If your boss valued you he’d pay more
Oh, my day to day boss is chill and I'd feel bad ruining his wedding. Like, I went over the arrangements in case there's a tax emergency on the PTO day I'm taking to cram for an exam/get car maintenance. The response was "it's a PTO day, you can use do not disturb".
But the chief bosses will most likely call on me on the day off. I already previously had to answer calls after saying I'm signing off for the day to go grocery shopping.
If you like your immediate boss then explain the situation. Phrase it that you see the opportunity with taking on the additional responsibilities; however, you should be compensated for it.
They aren't paying an entire controller's salary now, so there most certainly is room in the budget to pay you to do the controller's work.
Never feel bad about advancing your career. I wish someone would have told me this when I was younger. I wasted so much time and energy trying to help my boss because I had an emotional connection to her and it made me feel obligated to stay longer than I ever should have.
