Anybody have insight into ballpark salary range for Director level pay at Microsoft in a non-engineering role? I understand there’s probably varying degrees based upon org/function, as well as location. Just assuming Remote work, what would salary/bonus/stocks look like? Or just TC in general?

Is “Intelligence crystallizing” even a thing?
Pro
It is a term in cognitive psychology, it hardly describes what exactly happens on biochemical level in the brain and how neuroplasticity evolves, but rather the collective outcomes in applied intelligence - progression from fluid intelligence (ability to learn concepts, frameworks and methodologies from scratch) to crystallised intelligence (ability to learn how to more efficiently execute and reason within already known concepts, frameworks and methodologies)

As someone who recently retired after three separate careers, there is no age too old to learn. Even in retirement, I am expanding my horizons by going back to college this fall to learn either archeology or an Indigenous language.
The only real age impediment people face with career changes is the bias most employers have against older people starting over in a new profession.
Never. The brain is very use it or lose it. It's more a function of getting out of the habit of learning new things. That and interest/motivation... but that is true of any age.
Brain plasticity diminishes over time, the only way to keep it plastic is through new experiences. It takes a lot of effort to step out of the routine and mundane

I know people in their 50s learning new skills, taking up new hobbies. Hell, some even learn to code.
So it depends on skills you are trying to learn. Much harder to learn violin perhaps as you age than learning a new white collar skills. Tolkien published LOTR in his 60s, I would think that is a million times more intelligent and creative work than anyone in this bowl will do in their lifetime. So I doubt you will need Tolkien level of creativity to learn something new as you age in corporate world

There is no such age. I don’t know what angle you are looking for. Why do you think that at some age your brain cannot learn to be a quant researcher ?
Again, if Tolkien can write one of the greatest fiction ever including inventing languages after 50 , why do you think doing something a lot less insignificant should have an age barrier ?

I’m constantly learning new things and enjoy doing so… you would be amazed what your mind can do.. never heard of intelligence crystallizing
