Been fired twice. Landed on my feet both times. ran out of website time as well at least once and close to the end for the other. The key to getting through it is to not give up. Easier said than done, but it is possible.

What was the reason you gave? I haven’t been fired yet but the writing is definitely on the wall

Just ask for more time — a lot of firms agree to this. It will all work out. Trust me.
Regulatory is better than transactional in this market. Keep your chin up.
Deep breath. I promise it will be ok. If you need to talk, dm me. Thinking of you.

Practice area? City? YOE? It will be alright.
Dm’d. Slightly niche practice group.
Yes. I voluntarily resigned as a litigation associate from a V10 firm a couple of years ago. To make things worse, I’m a non American with an LLM and therefore had to find a firm to sponsor me to transfer my H1B visa across. I had a limited time to find a new role before getting deported (albeit to a real first world country with pristine beaches and free world class health care so it wouldn’t have been the worst thing lol). Landed at another firm that paid market/Cravath. I then got married. Life is good. If I can do it as a non American without a JD, so can you. Chin up. You got this.
It will be all fine. Best of luck. Try to limit your use of recruiters unless they have a connection at the firm where you want a job and they are able to somehow prove that and interview anywhere you can to be in the habit of interviewing. Also, ask for more time. It is negotiable.

You will be just fine, I promise! Sending you positive vibes ✨ I hope you get a chance to actually rest and unplug during this time.
Go to law firm websites to look for postings. Don’t rely on LinkedIn. Ask for additional time on website and additional time as employee with pay instead of that severance time. Explain that December and early January is regularly dead. State that if you end up in house, you’d like to send the firm work. Your career will be long, and they will want to stay on good terms. And finally, consider what you might do differently next time to be more successful. These little experiences can be great learning opportunities to drive you to be more successful over time. Good luck and stay calm and confident.
the market is picking up considerably. ive been there as an associate and have advised many in your situation as a recruiter. it will work out.
Does everyone get website time/severance? Or is that just if the firm feels like it and doesn’t want you to talk bad about what happened?
Generally 3 months of both is the norm. May be longer/shorter depending on the firm or circumstances
Oh. You will be fine in DC. Reach out to recruiters now. Join axiom if you need cash. Don’t tell recruiters you were let go
