St Regis is nice if you can swing it. Plenty of families with kids too.
Second that- very family friendly and overall great hotel.
The W is nice too
Unless this property has a different vibe compared to other W’s, I’d expect it to not be family friendly.
I was there this summer with wife and two elementary age kids in tow. We stayed at Westin in Nusa Dua which is right next to Laguna. Both are decent resorts. Westin is for families and Laguna is for couples.
Westin upgraded me to a suite and treated me well as a titanium elite. I paid 35k points per night for 4 night and 5th was free. The breakfast is pretty elaborate and they give you tons of freebies during your stay.
Westin also has a free day care. My daughter liked it a lot. If you want to drop kids for a few hours while you and your wife go surfing or other water sport activities, it is a good option.
You do not want to stay in Kuta. Too many drunk people and too busy with traffic. Not good for families. You should plan to take a day to visit Ubud from Nusa Dua for your tots esp 4 yr old to see sacred monkey forest. You can ask hotel for travel and taxi packages.
To me, Bali is like a cheaper version of Big Island in Hawaii but a lot more culture. Both have volcanic peaks too.
A few things to consider.
1 million Rupiah is 70 USD.
You do not want to drive in Bali. Rent a car. You can get a car for a day for 750k- 1 million IDR. A pizza is like 100K Rupiah.
Take kids carseats and strollers with you. Airlines check them in for free. The roads are pretty congested but on some highways the cars drive at 90-100 kmph.
Weather is amazing 70-80 F. Just take a layer of fleece.
Take DEET 40%+ and SPF 50+. You would not need DEET in Nusa Dua but will need in Ubud.
If you stay in Nusa Dua, here are few things to do.
Uluwatu - a couple of hours before sunset
Tanah Lot - same
Kuta - surfing if that is your thing. You may have to go on your own without kids in the daycare.
Ubud - Monkey forest, Rice fields (a day trip)
Also, plan your return trip from Uluwatu and Tanah Lot. After sunset, it is tough to get Gojek (Their Uber)
As I mentioned, roads are congested so 10 kms may take 45 minutes to 1 hour during rush hours.
You can also break your stay with a night in Ubud (Sthala is a Marriott property) and do Mt Batur the next day.
Enjoy your stay.
Download Gojek app and link it with a credit card.
Most drivers and people accept cash.
Withdraw 3-4 million rupiah so that you do not have to pay ATM fees each time.
If you eat at hotel then ofcourse you charge to the room.
Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan day trip may be worth considering but do cost benefit with tots in consideration
Gili Islands are good option too but with Tots, it may be tough to do.
Where are you flying from with two toddlers?
The St. Regis is outstanding
LAX. Possibly fly via Singapore Airlines.
Nusa Dua, where the StR is, is a bunch of resorts. While an amazing property, I’m not sure I would fly half way around the world to stay there. It’s a very nice resort on a mediocre beach. If you’re looking for a nice beach just go to Thailand.
You should really look at staying at somewhere in Ubud. Maybe an AirBnB rental. I’m not sure when the W Ubud will open next year but I would also look into that.
Going for my brother’s wedding, which will be in Bali. Agreed that there are better places in the area, but hearing that Nusa Dua is the place to be on the island.
Stayed at the Luxury Collection there and it was great as well. It’s in the Nusa Dua area of Bali
Yup
