When the client says they want strategic solutions but shoots down every strategic recommendation in favor of short term quick fixes and workarounds
Interested to hear how people learn project management. I have done PRINCE2 exam and read PMP materials, but I find these are too textbook theory based. Real life projects seem to be very different and a lot more complicated. I often do not know what needs to be done unless someone tells me. I believe you can learn these things on the job, but I am keen to expedite this with some books or courses. Are there any resources that are particularly helpful?
Anyone else join a new project and realize you will never know what tf the client is doing. I’m very confused right now.
Client: "Can you meet before 8?" me: "No. Beauty sleep" Client: "Are you free at 11?"....... Why didn't we start with that?
I’m tracking a few $100s short of AA’s EQD status threshold. Aside from additional flying / buying more expensive flights, does anyone know how I can increase my EQDs?
Will be at 195k EQMs on AA after this trip. Don’t have anything else planned for the rest of the year. Worth a mileage run for those extra 2 systemwide? Thoughts?
I've started traveling for meetings (not client, just other EY offices around the country) but I didn't request an LCA approval since it takes too long and I need to book tickets very last second. How bad is this? Still in the same team, doing the same work, not going to clientsite but working in different states sometimes.
Do people on your project teams stay at the same hotel or ever split up? Do any of your team members do Airbnb or non-hotels?
Anyone here successfully navigated a specialty occupation H1B RFE for SOC CODE 15-1299.09 Information Technology Project Manager?
Anyone have any details regarding the airline status match, accelerators or challenge options that their firms have negotiated
Sorry for the long message! Requesting advice: I was recently promoted to manager & have consistently been put in the same kinds of projects for the past several years. I’ve expressed even before promo that I wanted to branch out into a particular type of work that I’m interested in & have background in from my UG degree. However, decided to take on the roles I needed to accelerate promo while also being clear that I’d still like to branch out afterwards. On my current project, I am the lead…
When does aa typically send requalification email for cks. At 65k eqd and worried about loosing it for first time in 5 years
You know you're at the client site too late when none of the on-premise PokeStops have the Lure module on them anymore.
At Deloitte in the DC metro as a GPS Senior Consulant. Looking to eventually transition to a role at Microsoft while remaining in DC. What certifications, skills, and project experience should I seek out to prepare?
Pregnant with verbal job offer - how to negotiate maternity leave? I am only a few weeks pregnant and I have a great job offer. There are two points I want movement on (1) equity (2) maternity leave. The company offers new employees with <1 year tenure 14-16 weeks unpaid mat leave (+ whatever I get from CA state short term disability program which is less than half my salary). This is a 300+ person unicorn company that is really excited about me. What’s worth pushing for here?
I have a child who has been identified as a selective mute. Anyone have experience with this?
Has anyone taken one of those online executive courses, like the Harvard Extension School offers? Looking to use my $5k of tuition reimbursement and already have an MBA. Worth it? Best programs?
10/2020: I got laid off due to COVID. 10/2020 to 05/2021: I put over a hundred job apps for industry roles. I got multiple interviews and many unsuccessful final rounds. 06/2021:I am happy to share that I’ve received an offer for a 6 figures role in IA which is a 66% bump from my previous role!If you got laid off or not and you’re still looking for a better opportunity, don’t give up because believing is achieving!
Hey folks were hiring PMs (and other positions) in a bunch of locales right now. Happy to chat 1 on 1 and provide reference if you’re a good fit!
Best way to blow Bonvoy points on a 1 night stay in Honolulu? Considering Ritz, Royal Hawaiian and Moana Surfrider. Any good experiences?
This one is for the moms: my husband and I are trying to conceive and I’m wondering what life will look like once we have a baby. I have a job where I work completely from home/remote, and I’m wondering if I will need childcare services of some kind. Is it possible for me to handle taking care of a baby while working a full-time job from home? Is it crazy to think I can do this myself? I’d like to think, if it’s necessary, I could adjust my work hours and do a little when my husband gets home.

Does anyone here take a 'lazy day'? Where people think you are just working at another location but you are at home with Skype on pretending to be busy?
Anyone familiar with the airline reporting corporation? I know of someone with an interview there and trying to gauge what that may be like/what the company is like?
About to give my notice... company is having alternate week (wfh/office) arrangement. is it more appropriate to wait for a f2f convo or do it on zoom? (as an introvert doing it virtually feels more comfortable... but what do u think?) 🤨
Story of my consulting life -> client: "you didn't do what I asked." Me: "hmm I believe we did, let me double check." Client: "well I don't see it." *checks clients computer, has wrong version open*
I should be more sensitive but I think it's fucked up to start a new job and tell your boss after a week that you will be out on maternity leave in 4 months.
Hi all Question for those at BCG and McKinsey. How is Associate Partner at McKinsey different from Principal at BCG ? -Responsibilities -Comp -etc
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Received my conditional pre-approval for global entry renewal and there are 0 available appointments for the next 12 months either via Zoom or at my local airport. Any tips on when to check or how to get one? Current authorization expires in January.
