Tax question - I was living in Chicago in 2015 and am trying to figure out if I need to claim income earned while I was in another state on my IL return. Thoughts?

Not sure if this is the right bowl but hoping to get some insight. I have a lot of student debt, and am considering refinancing with First Republic bank to get a (marginally) lower interest rate. However, their version of refinancing student loans has changed in the last couple years so now they offer you a personal line of credit. Is it a bad idea to refinance with a line of credit vs a regular student loan refinancing?

I’m finally hitting a stride (now in my mid-30s) and have some cash to play around with/invest. Any suggestions or recommendations on good, long-term strategies (and/or things I should absolutely be doing) for people not familiar with having a tiny cushion of wealth? When settling with a title company plaintiff on a subrogation claim, have any foreclosure defense counsel received settlements over and above policy limits? What is your typical settlement range? How has settling on your subrogation claim negatively affected your counterclaims against the mortgage lender if at all?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it more advantageous to have low housing prices and higher interest rate? If that's the case, you can always refinance when/if the interest rate lowers again. Is there something I'm not seeing?

1. Is it wise to take 2 plans of term insurance one with return of 60 years and another without return of 80 years of each 1cr.

I am sure this is a question with an obvious answer, but does anyone else just feel absolutely trapped in a job they hate because of their student loans? I’m three years out of law school and I still have $160K in student debt despite making aggressive payments. I work in a larger firm (not big law per se, but 250+ attorneys and big for the market). I am pretty unhappy with my job the vast majority of the time, but I feel like I have no options. $160k at 6% and 7% interest cannot be ignored.
