I think the place that has its own catering would be the best option. Finding the right venue is really stressful.
If you go with a raw space, you’ll probably need a coordinator or a planner (even if you work in events—you don’t want to be corralling the table and chair delivery in your wedding dress), which adds an even bigger cost/IMO annoyance to the process. I had the same dilemma and ultimately went with a private club that had everything. There are still ways to make it your own!
Also in terms of price difference, ours was about a 60k difference—family property vs a private club. So the “raw space” didn’t even have a rental fee—but a planner, a tent, rentals. It adds up. Also florals skyrocket in a raw space vs. a space that already has a little character. We used the same florist when pricing out both venues and the difference was literally 15k. Insane!

Where do you live where there’s a $100k food and drink minimum?! My 180 person wedding is being catered for $7k.
SM1 - same! I can’t find catering for 75 people under $15k. I might just tell everyone to meet me at sweetgreen at this point 😅
It depends on how much your time and energy are worth. I found the minimal savings of booking at "raw space" wasn't worth the amount of extra planning and stress, so I went with an all inclusive. The price really isn't that much different when you add everything up.
What? $100k minimum food and beverage? That's too much.
Hmm. How about a family property? But you might need a coordinator if you choose a raw space.
Can you elaborate more on what you mean by the “location that has everything”
A location that has everything (all inclusive venue) cuts down a lot of work bc that's 4-5 less vendors you have to manage/get quotes/work with your planner on. Usually all inclusive venues are cheaper because its overhead for 1 company.
There are beautiful raw spaces in NYC but mostly warehouse style. And they can get real expensive once you account for something extra light couch/sofa rentals, string lights, break down crew, etc. I went with all inclusive, yes it's more expensive per person (my venue has their own catering) but also cut down on a lot of "wants" that I have bc I am too lazy to coordinate with more vendors
This is exactly me, i want to put in as little effort as possible. I’m losing sleep over just finding a venue I can’t imagine trying to wrangle other vendors.
Hmm. I think the budget really depends on your location. Where are you located or where are you planning to hold the wedding?
Do you have any places in mind? If you are looking for a location that has everything, I think that would be a lot cheaper. But it's also hard to find such a location.
