We talk a lot about red flags, but good workplaces have tells too. Supportive leadership makes a huge difference. What’s a green flag you look for?

Company culture is a big green flag for me but it can also be a red flag when its awful. I always pay attention to how the people who work there look while doing their jobs. You can tell when people are genuinely happy versus when they hate their job.

This is true! Body language & facial expressions say a LOT!

When they ask me real questions about what I actually want from the role and listen to the answers, instead of pivoting back to selling me on the job/organization/culture. Interviewers tend to be a reflection of the overall workplace culture. If they're genuinely interested in learning about who you are and what you want, it's likely because they work for an employer that actually values its employees.

This is such a good point! It shows that they actually value what their employees/potential employees have to say!

A huge green flag for me is when leadership knows exactly what you are going through and can even step in when you are short staff. I think they should know how the day to day function is in order to know how to be more efficient

I agree 100%! I think our work is valued more when management is actually familiar with what we do!

I’ve been with my bf for 18 months and we have not said ‘I love you’ to one another. I keep hearing about how the best/healthiest relationships are a slow burn, you’re friends first, grow to love each other, etc. I’ve never been in a relationship as emotionally slow as this one. It feels like we are friends who sleep together. I can’t tell if it’s healthy or if we just have no emotional spark. Idk... I feel like wanting romance is not a bad thing, right?

Hello there! I currently work in billing at a medical office. I got my Bachelors in Psychology a few years ago but I couldn’t find a position that seemed like a good option for me that was well paying and fulfilling. I tried working as a tech at an Applied Behavior Analysis clinic but it wasn’t a good fit. I’m hesitant to try case management or social work because I worry I won’t like it but I want to use my degree in Psychology. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a possible higher paying career that I would be qualified for based on my background?

I am a clinical research coordinator working in Austin, Texas. I have my Masters in Cell & Molecular Biology and have a year of laboratory research experience.

I’ve been in my position for 5 months now. I make $27 hourly which amounts to about $51,000 yearly. Am I being under paid? Are all coordinator positions hourly? As a laboratory researcher I was salary :(

How do I go about asking for a raise or should I explore other companies or medical schools that have clinical research?

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house.
