What are some common exits out of a PE associate role (buyout focused), excluding MBA and lateraling for promotion? Interested to hear what others have done after their associate stint.

isn’t PE supposed to be the exit opp? lmao i’d imagine after you break into that you can do pretty much whatever you want. my guess is that you go back to banking, start your own fund, or go to some corporate job to work way less hours

HF

I've seen HF a few times on FB, but can't seem to understand why... How does experience in running transactions in private equity help with HF recruiting (assuming no contacts pulling for you in the hedge fund)? Of course there are should you could leverage but I'm sure there are other better feeders into HFs

A lot of HFs spend more time in private markets than you might assume. But more generally, PE teaches you to think like an investor, focus on what’s important, and adequately quantify and price risk (all of which banking does a poor job of). Scout LinkedIn, you’ll see that most top HFs are full of ex-buyout folks and there are plenty of reasons why.

How do they spend time in private markets? Ipo a business?

^huh? We do buyouts, growth equity, VC, private debt, distressed, and public equity / credit

Guys, I am APHR certified and practiced Organization Development for several years and I still had problems getting a new job after migrating to the USA. I have been researching and learning and what I found out was to switch career minimum; needed is education (first not not certification to show you have practiced new skills). This will lead to new skill sets which will lead into more experience.

Could anyone please provide me a referral for the ServiceNow developer role at Cisco? Total IT Experience: approx 8 years, Relevant Experience: 7 years.

My recruiter told me I️ would be hired as an FTE after 3 months now they keep extending me month by month & the instability of not having health benefits makes me feel extremely anxious. I️ initially wasn’t interested in contract jobs but thought it would be a good opportunity for my career. Im thinking of sticking around but also debating looking for a new opportunity w/ more stability/clarity. Any advice? Do you typically share your salary or salary expectations with recruiters on the first interview? I’ve had instances where the interviewer flat out tell me the range of salary band via email even prior to initial interview. I think this is a great way to set expectations from the get go and will save both parties time - but some companies like to play the “game” and get you to share numbers first, which I find very annoying. What have your experiences been with salary expectations?
