I do a charcuterie kit: a cutting board, cute knife set, fancy crackers, a nice jam, etc.

The majority of these are obligations. I don't know your buddy but get them something consumable. Candles. Booze. Hell even a Lowe's gift card.

Towels? What if they don't like the color? What're the chances they bought a house and don't look forward to personalizing it? A ring camera? So you're locking them into a recurring contract? Na. Not for me bud.

Lowe’s is a thoughtful gift - good point

A ring doorbell

A cute front door rug!

Air plant if they don’t have cats

I’m p sure they’re not. Just did a quick google search to confirm. But putting myself as a cat, if I saw an air plant, chances are I’d play with it. 😂

Ask them top 5 things they would like. I’m a minimalist and don’t like having a lot of things, especially in a small apartment— it creates clutter.

But, if someone was to ask me rn I would choose:
• nice towels
• cozy cotton bathrobe
• sponges in forms of cats (budget friendly for a gift ,but so cute. It’s $5, so I would not buy it for myself)
• gift card to Lowe’s (because boycotting Home Depot due to funding trump)
• a white minimalist tray

Pretty wooden Cheese board and alcohol

Friend or family. If it’s close friend/family... a piece of art; if it’s a friend... some fun set of glasses to pour some in

Just sent friends some balcony planters

1. Simple human sensor soap foam dispenser
2. Ring Doorbell or Nest
3. 17ft gorilla ladder or Little giant (No joke it's a necessity)

If they are a super close friend/ family or simply you have the money- robot vacuum cleaner

I would go for the Neato D7, which can clean in the dark

Wine and a pre-paid cleaning service.

A trivet, sheet pans, plants, a gift card, and if you live in a location like me where the buildings don’t normally have aircon - a fan

Depends on your price range and what they already have. Sonos speaker would be awesome. Easy route - Home Depot or Lowe’s gift card. I swear we went to Home Depot almost every day for at least a month when we bought our first house.

An iPad lap holder (with a cushion under it). I got my boyfriend one of those and loves it, uses it every day!

Bubble bar and bubble boob from LUSH

Well I recently told a guy I have been seeing I have HSV-2. We have not yet been physical but it’s been heading that direction. Man I hate this part - waiting to see what his response will be after he researches and talks to his doctor. I’m on daily meds which help reduce transmission risk. You’d think that since HSV-2 affects 20% of Americans and likely a higher % of gay men, there would be less taboo but it’s hardly ever talked about. Anyone else in my shoes? Or had it disclosed to them?

I accepted a new job, they said PTO was “generous.” I find out it’s 19 days a year of PTO (which includes sick days). I have two young children and we like to vacation 1-2x a year (no more than a few days away each time). Am I crazy that this is pretty limited time off? 8 of the normal holidays off during the year (working the week between Christmas and NYE). Thoughts? I dont know if lack of PTO is a good reason to back out, is it?

Where are my home cooks at?

I'm entertaining guests and picked up a black summer truffle on a whim, trying to decide what to do with it. I've got some rib eyes and will be making mashed potato as well (among other things).

After sous vide and searing the steaks I was going to cook fresh rosemary and thyme in some butter before spooning them over the steaks while resting to heat them up a bit immediately before serving.

I think I've got my truffle 101 now so sounds like (cont)

Considering leaving to take a partner position at a small firm. Is it worth it? Would only be 2 partners with a staff of 10. Comp would be 250k on the low end and probably top out around 350k. Would take 3-4 years to get to this level of comp as would be buying 10% per year up to 40% of the firm. Am I stupid for not taking this? Currently manager making 125k. Comp first year as junior partner would be 120k with 10% ownership.

Confused if parents want schools to reopen or not? I read so many posts here about how difficult it is to work full time and manage kids’ at-home schooling (I can’t even imagine!) so would assume that means parents want to reopen, but at the same time keep seeing a ton of backlash from parents in states who are pushing to reopen due to safety reasons. What’s the general consensus?
