Oliver Wyman fishes, I have 1 YOE at Deloitte but not officially in their consulting practice, but working with a strategy consulting team there. If there are no ‘Consultant’ level openings on the career page right now, is there anything I can realistically apply for? Does Senior Consultant make any sense?

I’m pulling down $160 at 26. Feels ridiculous to me as I’m not SWE/MBB/Target UG.

I lied about having a Bain offer to get McK to improve their offers. In the end it represented a +70% increase vs my previous job 🥸

This was a year ago. It is also my understanding that firms won’t negotiate for entry-level (BA/ Asc) levels but I joined as an experienced EM after a never-ending interview process and I had gone far enough in the Bain process that we had talked numbers and I had all the details of the package. If they had asked me to share proof I would just have declined. I did have other offers, just not MBB, and I would have been OK either taking McK’s original offer or joining a T2. You get 0% of the things you don’t ask for 🤷🏻♀️
I did a weekend MBA and jumped from $130k to $230k+ TC
I remember waiting tables for $5/hr not all that long ago so it feels pretty unreal
So my first contracting job as a data scientist, they wanted to pay me $80 an hour and I asked for $150-$200. I told them for small companies that’s what I charge (lmao). Well. They gave it to me. It is more than what I was making at my W2 job.
Ah for you, that is slick
Asked for 460k as an Associate w 6 YoE for a tech exit role. Got 420k. Didn't expect to get more than 340k.
I had relevant tech experience before my consulting gig. The role is BizOps but I am at an anomalous seniority level.
Many years ago I was a scientist at a mid-sized biotech company fresh out of grad school. Age 26/27. $110k base, 15% bonus, $40k equity a year.
Easiest job of my life. 2-3 hours a day in lab. 1-2 hours a day of meetings. Half day Fridays. 3 beer lunches at least twice a week.

$226.44 adjusted for inflation for the folks playing at home
I never asked for a ridiculous offer. Before I negotiate I ask and search for possible appropriate salary rate for my skills and experience. But I would like try it too. Lol.
6 YoE, just got an S&O offer at 330k, about a 95% increase and looking at some of these replies I could’ve gotten more lol
