Hi All! I hope you guys are staying safe and healthy.
I am hosting a free workshop for teachers that I thought might benefit you. The workshop is called From Unsettled to Prepared Classroom. I am giving you the tools you need to feel organized and ready for this upcoming school year. There is so much that is still uncertain and it can be super daunting to start to plan for a year like this one.

My top 3:
- choose an doable framework for document analysis (I.e grade appropriate)
- spend extra time discussing “bias” in documents
- jigsaw activities
I use an acronym for write a paragraph. I teach middle school so we use TBDEE- topic sentence, background info, document introduction, evidence, explain. Many of my students return and say how much this has helped them in HS take the regents.
This is changing a bit for us in NY because of the new Regents framework, but it is all about annotating and connecting documents to one another. Then, for the essay I always teach my students to tell a story and use the documents to support that story. Otherwise, the essays students write become too reliant on the documents, lack analysis, and lack outside information.
