Benefits are (usually) more specialized team members. For example, as an AD, I’m afforded a team of designers, UX department and production artists in a holding co agency.
During my time at an indie, I had to do all of these. The kicker? You touch more of the work. The
The downside of holding co? More time between raises/promos, and layoffs can occur robotically with little to do with your performance.
You usually get to work with much larger clients - which I think is a huge bonus when starting your career especially.
I was comparing one big agency vs one smaller one. But are their brands that only use 1 big AOR for everything? Typically they have a general agency, multicultural agency, media, PR, etc all separated out. Even if it’s all under one holding company, each agency has its’ own P&L, fees structures, etc.
