What are the best questions to ask partners in interviews? When I’m interviewing with an associate, I usually ask the typical business development, integrating into the firm as a lateral, pro bono type questions but I never know what to ask partners??

Definitely ask how the team works. Will you be assigned to a specific partner or will you receive work on basis of availability. Are there some practice groups which work together/associates move around?

Good thoughts thank you!

I ask about them to describe what qualities and characteristics they think make for a successful associate. Ask them to define what success looks like for an associate, what is the expected progression over x years? What kind of exposure or interaction with clients will you have? How is associate performance measured? Are there formal performance reviews, if so what do they look like? Any big changes expected in the future for the practice group or firm (retirements, expansion into new areas, etc)? My general goal is to get them to tell me what the expectations are so I can figure out whether they are reasonable or if there are red flags. I also try to get a sense of how much non billable bs I'll be saddled with (committees, drafting business plans or self assessments for reviews, marketing, etc.)

Thanks this is helpful!

Ask them about their favorite deal/case - I love getting this question and it makes you not seem like as much of a try hard

Thank you- definitely going to ask this.

I interviewed for a job in a diff location and during interviews they asked me multiple times how I felt abt relocating. I said it was fine, but the more I think about it the less I’m open to relocating. I now have an offer from them, is there anyway to negotiate no relocation? They are remote until mid year 2021. I’m Happy to fly in on a monthly basis but I don’t want to move there.

Not going into the details but I had a pretty terrible experience with a recruiter from another big 4 recently. I passed the initial SM level screening and the recruiter is supposed to setup interviews. They asked for time a week ago. But given how awful my conversation with the recruiter was I am wondering if I should ask them to schedule the next level interview at all. I’m worried that the recruiter will not be cooperative in the next stages of the interview. Any suggestions?

And many more question on same. 2- After getting 2nd offer letter. How to deal with previous org (1st offr)? Any email body if you can share will be really helpful. Please share your thoughts.

I’m interviewing for a company that is asking me to complete a project as part of the interview process. I want to send them a contract to ensure the work I produce won’t be used by the company (they’ve already agreed to signing something), but since I’ve never drafted anything like this I don’t know where to start. Does anyone know of any good resources/templates for this sort of thing?

Attempting to lateral between Big 4's to switch practice lines. Not sure how to explain why I don't just stay at my current firm and work with the group that does the type of work I'd like to do - truth is I briefly worked with them and loved the work but couldn't stand working with the team members at all. Is a sufficiently explained 'not a cultural fit' adequate here? Will they even care? I also doubt my practice line would approve the transfer since we're understaffed.
